Snail Mail made a stop in Philadelphia this past Thursday as part of the North American leg of her spring tour. The tour is in support of her latest album, Ricochet, released on March 27. Joined by a full live band, fans eagerly awaited the performance after stunning sets from openers Sharp Pins and shoegaze legends Swirlies.

Snail Mail is the stage name of Lindsey Jordan, a guitarist and singer-songwriter originally hailing from Ellicott City, Maryland. Ricochet marks her first record in five years and has been met with generally positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The record came together musically first, and lyrically second as Jordan took a slower pace to fill in the songs. The resulting work was a vividly ‘90s alt-rock-inspired ode to facing the unknown.

To begin the show, Jordan and her live band emerged from backstage as the venue went dark. Their presence brought excitement as brightly colored lights began to illuminate the venue. A white picket fence and faux house backdrop helped set the mood for the music to come. The setlist featured songs primarily from the new record, but with a healthy mix of fan favorites from her first two albums: Lush (2018) and Valentine (2021). The crowd was particularly excited to hear the two songs during the encore: “Thinning,” as well as “Pristine.”
